Is it all necessary or just overkill????

One thing you always hear about when you decide to have a baby is how much stuff you NEED to buy. They weren't kidding. There is a ton of things that a baby"needs". There is the pack-n-play, the crib, the changing table, the diaper champ, the bumpo, the boppy, the playmat, the swing, the bouncer, the high chair and the exersaucer just to name a few. (BTW We have all of these things) My question is, how much of this stuff do we actually need? James and I had this discussion. We determined that our parents raised us on half of this stuff and their parents raised them on practically none of this stuff. I am sure that there will be a time and a place for each of these items, but we haven't found that time yet. We have yet to really use the swing. We put him in it once for 5 minutes and that was it. Will I end up using it, or did I flush a little more than a hundred bucks?? The bouncer we have used a few times and I can see that we will probably use it more in the future but haven't yet. Again, a necessary item or did I waste like sixty bucks ?? The list goes on and on. I know the crib was necessary. We already use the crud out of that. Also, the diaper champ. We really use that thing. It helps keep that stink away. Anyway, I was just looking around my house at all of this stuff and wondering if it was all necessary. It may not all be necessary, but having it on hand just in case my boy needs it might be worth the money. Either that or I am just a sucker!! Hope he doesn't ask us for too much growing up. I know we will cave!!

why do you think my kids are so spoiled? they had all this too!! lol I wouldn't say it was the kids wanting the stuff as it is US wanting to buy it for them!!! :)

yep, it's overkill. Especially when I trip over an exersaucer that my kid doesn't even use yet.

wait until your kids are 6 and 4 and those things have been sitting in your garage for years. Thats when they feel like a waste.

Yes....the commercialism of having a kid. It's amazing how we think we need all this junk, when in years past people didn't have any of it. YOu can still go to other countries today where they reaise perfectly decent kids without any of it. I will say that on this subject...we are a bunch of crazy Americans! :)
