Well as some of you know there have been a few minor bumps in the road during this pregnancy. Nothing that has ever been serious, but all still very annoying. One of those things was a low-lying or partial-covered placenta.
Just a brief explanation for those of you unfamiliar with the term. In the beginning of a person's pregnancy the placenta is located at the bottom of the uterus covering the birth canal. In a normal pregnancy the placenta will work its way up to the top of the uterus as the uterus expands. It remains at the top so that it is out of the way for the baby to come down the birth canal during delivery.
In my pregnancy the placenta has remained covering the birth canal making natural child birth impossible. They found this out at about 18 weeks along. I have gone to the doctor and been repeatedly checked to see if the placenta has moved out of the way. Every time they checked it my placenta had moved a tiny bit but not nearly enough to even consider natural child birth. I was going to have to have a c-section. At first I was kinda sad about this. I am not scared of c-sections, but I wanted the opportunity to at least try to give birth naturally. Since my last visit I had accepted the fact that I was having a c-section. No ifs, ands or buts about it. I started looking at all of the positives of them. There are actually quite a few. Let's do it!
Well I went to the doctor today to have it checked yet again. I was thinking - What's the point? We already know how this is going to go. Then it happened. The news that surprised Me, James and even the docs. My placenta had moved. So much in fact that it was completely out of the way and a c-section was no longer necessary. I could deliver naturally. WHAT??
I wasn't sure how I felt about it. I was kinda glad, but at the same time I was already ok with having a c-section. Then they said it. WOW your baby is measuring a FULL week ahead and is in the 80th percentile. He now weighs about 4 pounds (a normal baby at this time is 3) and you are on track to have at least a 9 pound baby!!!! EXCUSE ME! So you're telling me that I am going to have a HUGE baby and I now have to have it naturally!!! GEEZ!
I am still a little unsure about how I feel about all of this. On one hand I am glad that things are going well enough that a c-section is not necessary. On the other hand, I am now fearing the natural birth of a large baby. Hmmmmm....

Sitting for a good cause!
After some recent belly pains in my ever expanding tummy I am forced to sit down as much as possible. Do they realize what I do for a living?? My job kinda requires me to stand up. I figured oh well - I will give it a try. Anything to make things go well for the little guy. I have a lovely little stool next to my station and I sit on it all the time. I sit on it to apply color, while my colors sit, to style and in between clients. However, I draw the line at sitting to cut. It is possible, but just ridiculous. I can't do it. Those of you that know me well know how hard this is for me. I HATE to just sit there. I feel like a lazy bum sitting down to work. Sometimes I feel like other clients look at me when they walk past and wonder what the heck is wrong with me that I sit to do hair. Nothing is wrong with me and I am sitting here like a lazy bum to keep it that way. QUIT STARING AT ME PEOPLE!!! Ok I am done venting. Thanks for listening!
P.S. It's working. The belly pains have stayed away since I have been doing this sitting thing.

Picture!
I was tagged by Julie Potts. I tag Jen, James, David and Jen B.
The object of the picture tag is to:
1) Choose the 4th folder where you store your pictures on your computer
2) Select the 4th picture in the folder
3) Explain the picture
4) Tag 4 people to do the same
NO CHEATING! (cropping, editing, etc!)
This is a picture of Christmas 2007 at my Jen and Dave's house in Arizona. It was Christmas morning and the boys were opening all of their gifts. This is a picture of them going through their stockings. What a fun Christmas that was. It is so much more fun at Christmas when you can see it from a kid's perspective!

Christmas Cards
Every Year we send out Christmas cards. We generally send them to the same people every year. So why is it that every year I have a stack of cards for people that I do not have an address for??? These are people that I KNOW I sent a card to last year and I had their address then. Where did it go? Did it just disappear somewhere in my computer? Why is it not under the file in my documents that is labeled addresses? I have decided that it is like the sock and the dryer thing. Sometimes they just tend to disappear. Oh well! I will do like I do every year. Send out the embarrassing "I lost your address" emails asking them for it. So if you receive an email from me asking for an address do not be mad, your address has just gotten swallowed by my computer.

Our Turkey Day!!
James and I had a great Thanksgiving Day!! We woke up and put the turkey in the oven. Then we hung out and watched the parade. After much more cooking we ate a ton of Thanksgiving Day food. Way more than we needed!!! Then we put on Planes, Trains and Automobiles. It is a classic Turkey day movie, but I still fell asleep. After that we went out to The Gaylord Texan to enjoy some Christmas decor and to freeze our butts off in their display of ice. Talk about incredible. Everything was so beautiful and we couldn't believe that some of it was really made of ice. They had ice trees, ice santa, ice gingerbread house, ice reindeer, an ice nativity scene and a huge ice slide at the end that James went down. It was all so amazing. Hope you en joy the pictures of our fun day!

People have NO manners!
As I am sure everyone knows I am 20 weeks pregnant. I knew that I was eventually going to get people making stupid comments, I just didn't realize that it would be this early. Last week was the first week that I began to really show. I believe I have gained a total of 7 pounds so far. Totally normal. It's not like I have gained 50 pounds or anything. Anyways, today a lady looked at me and the first words out of her mouth were - Oh my gosh you have gotten soooo big. Are you sure you are not having twins because you look big enough to be having twins. I was like HUH?? No I am not having twins. She says - Are you sure because you look really big? Then she says - How many weeks are you? I told her, and she says Well I guess that's normal. REALLY?? Did she just say that? As you can guess I was so mad. My next thought was - Go ahead and have a seat and let me use these very sharp shears on your head!!! She's lucky that she didn't leave bald. Too bad I am way too chicken to ever take revenge through a haircut. Guess I should just prepare myself for this kind of stuff.

Crazy dreams!
Everyone told me about these crazy dreams that I might start getting once I got pregnant. Boy were they not kidding. They began pretty early on in my pregnancy and have just gotten progressively weirder.
Last night I had a dream that I was floating down some insane rapids on a child size floaty with some friends from high school. I almost died. When we got to the end one of them had found 40 bucks. The 40 bucks was the change that I keep for customers at work I blamed one of them for stealing it and ran off. All of the sudden I was at work and was yelling at the owner about someone stealing squirts of my conditioner. I told her that if she didn't get a handle on these people stealing my stuff I was leaving. Then I was instantly somewhere else. I don't know what any of this is about. I guess because I am not pleased with the owner and have been considering a salon move after the baby comes.
I woke up and went back to sleep and then came the AWFUL dream. It was about Rory our youngest dog. I had a dream that she was too sick to continue living. So while we were at my grandmas old house in Arizona I decided to cut off her legs. All but one came off easily with a plastic knife and with no blood whatsoever. The last one started to bleed so I didn't remove that one. (Creepy) So there she is with one leg (I'm sure this came from the fact that she only has the use of 3 legs and I feel like it''s our fault for not fixing her 4th one) Then I decide to remove her ear, just one though. Then I say - Well I guess she's not gonna die like this - the EASY way so lets take her to the vet to have her put to sleep. (hmmmm) I get in the car carrying her (cuz she can't walk without legs) and Mike is driving the car. (This comes from discussing riding with him and Jen on Friday) We get to the vet and they come out with a stretcher for her. All of the sudden Mike is James. We are holding her down so they can give her the shot. Suddenly Rory turns into a screaming baby. WHAT!! I started screaming and crying. Then I woke up in tears. This was probably the craziest dream I have had so far. Please don't try and have me committed.

Stupid Styrofoam Cups
Last night I had this monster headache. Ya know. The kind where it is actually pounding in your head and you can’t stand the sound of even your own thoughts. Well, because I am pregnant the only thing I can take for headaches is Tylenol. Tylenol sucks. It does not give me any relief at all. The only thing that gives me even temporary relief is caffeine. So my wonderful husband went out of his way to stop at Jack in the Box to get me some much desired curly fries and to pick me up a soda that would help relieve my headache. I was so glad when he arrived at our house with the soda in hand. It was huge! It was like one of those 44 oz cokes. Of course I would never drink that much but whatever. I took a total of 5 sips of my soda and the bottom of my Styrofoam cup fell out. SODA EVERYWHERE!! It was all over the carpet. It took 6 towels and a lot of scrubbing with Resolve to get it all out. As you can imagine I was thrilled. Not only was my headache not gone it was worse from the fumes of the Resolve. James had stepped out for a second so it was all up to me to get the stains out. They came out, but it took FOREVER!!! So in a nutshell I HATE STYROFOAM CUPS!!!!!

The Gender of Our Baby!!
OK! So Monday I went to the doctor to get my early pregnancy screening. It is done at 12 weeks and they test for downs and other chromosomal defects. They test your blood and do an ultrasound. Then about 3 weeks later they do another blood test and compare everything. So far all of our tests have come back great. We now just have to wait for that last blood test. Even this early in the pregnancy at these visits they can sometimes tell you the sex of your baby. Ever since we found out that we were pregnant James and I had decided that we were going to have a girl. Even though we had no evidence of a girl we just assumed that is what we were having. We had a name picked out and were ready to hear the news. Then it happened. I was at the doctor and got the news. It's a BOY! Imagine my shock. I questioned the doctor. I wanted to know how sure he was and how he could possibly know that it was a boy. Well he proceeded by zooming in on the part of the baby that makes it being a boy a dead give away. I was convinced. Then when I left I felt really bad about being SLIGHTLY shocked. An hour later I was thrilled. I had decided that this was going to be great. A little boy!! WOO HOO!!! Later that evening when James arrived home I delivered the great news. His response.... REALLY??? That was exactly what I said to the doc. REALLY??? He was a little shocked too. Then, just like me about an hour later he was thrilled. It took him all of 15 minutes to get on the Polo Baby website and pick out about $250 worth of boy clothes. (It could be more but thank goodness he didn't actually buy it... YET) So there you have it. We are having a baby boy and we can't wait to meet him.

Vacation
OK! So I know James has blogged about our vacation like 5 times by now, but I still have to do my blog. We had a GREAT and lazy time. We woke up everyday to our mountain view and had breakfast in bed and stayed there for an hour or two. Then we got ready for our day and headed down the mountain to the lake areas. We grabbed lunch each day and ate it on the beach or atop the mountains. I love picnics. We spent the afternoons hiking and hanging out. Then it was off to dinner. One night we took a small yacht cruise around the lake and ate lobster and chicken. YUM! The last night we went to a Shakespeare festival on the lake and had dinner there. It was really fun. The we had to go home, but not before we gambled a little. James came out on top and I lost just as much as he won. So we came out even. Not too bad. We had a really great trip and can't wait to plan our next one!!

Fun Questionnaire About My Hubby!
What is his name? James Everett Burgess
How long have you been married? 8 years & 3 months
How long did you date? only 1 year
How old is he? 28
Who eats more sweets? Hmmm... That's a close one, but I have to lean toward James
Who said I love you first? Me
Who is taller? James
Who can sing better? James by far. Have you ever heard me sing. Yuck!
Who is smarter? It depends on what kind of smarts you are referring to. He is smarter at real life things and I am more book smart. ( aka nerdy)
Who does the laundry? Yeah. That would be me, but it's because I have more time than he does.
Who pays the bills? James does. I guess he doesn't trust my math skills. Did anyone tell him I was a math major?
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? If you're looking at the bed - I do. Any side I sleep on is the right side. The other side is just wrong.
Who mows the lawn? Hmmmm.... well James usually does, but I have done it more than him this year. I told him I didn't wanna do it anymore so he is gonna do it from here on out.
Who cooks dinner? That would be me. Unless I am not feeling great then James will make my soup for me, but he will complain while doing it.
Who drives?James does. I like to nap in the car. I am usually asleep if the ride is 20 minutes or longer.
Who is more stubborn? That is an impossible question because we are both impossible. However, this trophy probably goes more to me. SUCK!
Who kissed who first? James tried to kiss me once and I told him no. OOPS. Then he tried again a little later and I let him kiss me.
Who asked who out first? We never really went out. We were friends and then we just started making out. Romantic I know!
Who proposed? He did. Took me to the Melting Pot for my birthday and then took me to a mountain called the Pointe. You can see the entire city of phoenix from there. We walked to the top and were the only people up there (it was restricted). He proposed up there. I thought he was joking at first, but quickly learned that he was serious. Leave it to me to ruin another nice moment.
Who has more siblings? I do. i have 1 brother, 2 half-brothers, 1 step-sister, and 1 step-brother.
He only has 1 brother and 1 sister. I totally kicked his butt on this question.
Who wears the pants? James. Hello - He is the one in retail. Any pants I wear he picked out.

Lonely in Dallas!!!
So James left Dallas on Saturday to go to New Jersey for a work thing. He will not return until Thursday evening. YUCK!! I know you are all thinking BIG DEAL! You should be use to him traveling by now Lisa. Well I am not. He has not traveled basically this whole year. I got use to him being around. Plus I have been really needy and clingy to him lately. Which I am sure he is glad to have a break from. It wouldn't be so bad except that I really can't even talk to him. He is up and at a meeting before I wake up and stays in those meeting ALL DAY LONG. He even has to eat his lunch in those meetings. Poor Guy. After his long day of meetings he has to go to dinner with these people where they basically have another mini meeting. Then he gets back to his hotel around 11:30 our time. At that time I am getting in bed. So he calls and we say goodnight. Today the first time I got to even say hello to him was 5:10 p.m. The next time I talk to him will be close to midnight to say goodnight. Thank goodness it is almost over!!!! COME HOME JAMES!!!!!

My hilarious brother and his causes!!!
Ok. So my brother is so funny. He is a youth minister and is always doing fund raisers and different things to help out the community. His newest thing is trying to raise money to purchase backpacks and supplies for kids that can't afford it. He created this hilarious video to play at his church to try and raise money for the cause. It is the funniest thing. So, if you want to watch my brother and nephews in their goofy video here is the link. I suggest you watch it. My brother is such a dork.

Fun AZ Weekend!!!
This weekend i had the great opportunity to fly home to Arizona for my nephew Taylors 6th birthday. What a fun weekend. First, we had Taylor's party. David and Jen had set up the entire backyard as a water park for him. Waterslides, slip n slides, little pools, water guns and water balloons. We had a really good time. The next day we went to a hotel and stayed there for the night because that is what Taylor wanted to do as a present. This hotel is cool. It had huge pools, waterslides and a lazy river. We spent two days hangin by the pool and of course eating food. We relaxed and just enjoyed the sunny days.
I am so glad that I was given the opportunity to go back home and visit some of my favorite people in the world. By the way, in case you didn't notice one of those favorite people is Batman. Trevor got this mask and didn't take it off all weekend long. Way too cute. I sure do love those kiddos. Can't wait to go back again.

Such a Jerk!!!
I am such a jerk! Tonight I helped out at VBS. Needless to say I went home tired and a little bit annoyed. James had gone home early in order to get some homework done. When I arrived home he was sitting on the couch. Of course I jumped all over the fact that he hadn't done his homework yet. I was wondering what the heck he had done with his time. He was not thrilled with me and my attitude. DUH!! Anyway, he is sitting on the couch reading e-mails and I started putting away laundry. While I was putting it away I noticed a bag. Yep! You guessed it. It was a present from James. He had gotten me, and for no reason I might add, a new and fabulous bag, a very cool patch to put on that bag and a new Disney movie for my collection. Yep! Exactly right. I SUCK!!!!!

My New Ring!!!!!!!!
Ok so today James and I went to Jared's to look around. We both agreed that we would NOT buy anything. The diamond from my engagement ring is well over 100 years old and has had some damage from being that old. We had decided to remove the diamond from the ring and place it in a necklace to protect it from further damage. When we got to the jeweler we were very disappointed. They told us that the diamond had received far too much damage to even be removed. They feared that removing the diamond would cause it to completely fall apart. We would have to sign a waiver releasing them from any responsibility for damage to the diamond. The lady told us that the ring was totally worthless. My first reaction was YOU B*%#H. I was ticked. The ring is worth a lot to me. It came from James' side of the family and was passed down. I LOVE IT! I was really upset. Anyway, I was totally unwilling to sign that release form so James came up with a new idea. Just get a new ring and leave the original one alone to preserve it. We started looking around and found a ring that looked EXACTLY like this one. The only problem was that the price was a little high. No thank you. Well the lady pulled out this ring to see if it was a little smaller and cheaper. Well when she looked at them together we quickly realized that it was not smaller but exactly the same. Much to our surprise the price was more than half the price of the other one. HECK YEAH!!! We checked out the rings and decided that there was no difference between the two. She came to the conclusion that the cheaper ring had been mis-priced. She said there was no way it was that cheap. We said - Tough crap for you guys. We'll take it! So I got a new ring and can feel better about keeping the original one safe.YIPPEE!!! I love it. What do you think about it???

My Family!!
Right now I am sitting on the couch with my husband next to me and my girls at my feet. James picked a movie and put it on. As most of you know that means that he is now asleep. The dogs are asleep too. This is usually what happens on a normal week night at our house. James and the girls fall asleep and I stay up. You might think that this sounds boring, but as I sit here I can't help but think about how blessed I am. I have a wonderful husband that loves me and there is no doubt about it. He is home with me every night and takes great care of me. I have a great home, great friends , great family and of course adorable dogs. The amount of blessings that I have is INSANE!!! Stop and count yours. I bet there are way more than you ever thought!

Back to the gym!!!
So! I have got this plan to go to the gym three times a week. Now that I no longer have school i no longer have an excuse not to go. The plan is to go to the gym three times a week and play volleyball once a week and play softball once a week. That's five days of something active. So far so good. I will definitely be able to go three times this week. The question is will I be able to do it next week. I tend to get lazy! Wish me luck.

Graduation!!
I have graduated!!! I'm sorry - I don't think you heard me. I said - I HAVE GRADUATED!!!!! Now - I assume you are smiling and jumping with excitement which is the response I expect from you all. I could not be more excited to be graduated. I was a little nervous about my grades this past semester, but as usual I was just being crazy. I ended the semester with 4 A's and 2 B's. Much better than expected. YIPPEE!!!
I would like to take this moment to thank everyone for coming to my party and celebrating with me. I am especially thankful for my wonderful family that flew all the way from Arizona to spend this time with me. Last but certainly not least I thank my fabulous husband James. James supported me for the past 3 and a half years while I attended school. He put up with my craziness and stress and stayed home with me all of those nights so I could do homework. Boring I'm sure, but he still did it. To top it off he threw me a super fun party complete with some good food, some great family and friends and best of all some fun karaoke. I still can't believe we got our friends to participate in that one. I had a blast! It makes me want to go get my Masters or even my PhD so I can have another party. --- Probably not!
